Today was my day off.
I have been asleep for probably 75% of the day.
This was the view when I woke up.
No regrets.

Beyonce was accused of lip-syncing at the Presidential Inauguration,
I just deep cleaned my room and dad is painting: typical Tuesday, I'd say.

Today's project: the flower bed (not pictured), back porch and walk-way.
All that's left is some leveling.

Today's entry is a double feature. I couldn't pick just one.

Sunday afternoon lunch and "Apples to Apples" at a family's house from my church.

So good.

I am becoming too familiar with this baroque scenery.

Winter Storm Iago, do your worst except, please don't. Just go  away.
I've got to get on the interstate to get to work in the morning.

I am SO thankful for this group of people. Sanity and warmth in the midst of insanity.

Thought from discussion tonight: prayer can be an act of justice.

Another rainy, wet, 70 degree, January winter day. Oh wait, that's NOT normal.

Went out for lunch with some co-workers after work. I got horchata. It's a good day.

One of my best friends is in town and he came to visit me at my studio.
It was a wonderful visit. It's nice to have company while working.

I was drawing. Got bored and started sculpting a whale out of my eraser.

"Planet Earth" has been a bad influence.

-Watching "M*A*S*H" re-runs: a family tradition unchanged for nearly 15 years.
-Dad showing mom the pictures he just took: a family tradition unchanged since they met.

This has significantly decreased my productivity in the last couple of days.
SO GOOD!

Today, I brought my camera to work with me. My coworkers took turns with it throughout the day when they had an impulse to take pictures. The resulting collection of images as a whole is quite something and I had a hard time figuring out which picture to use until this gem was produced.

I love my job.

The Baldwins: a young family
Had dinner tonight with some dear friends from college.

Tonight, my small group Bible study had a "New Year's/we finished the book we were studying" celebration potluck dinner. Everyone came. There was a long table packed with people. Good food. Good fellowship. At one point, I started passing my camera around the table and everyone took pictures. They were all quite...something. This one is a fairly accurate representation of the group dynamics. So thankful for these people.

1/1/2013

I'm not big into resolutions and nonsense like that. However, I've recently begun a new season in my life and I want to try something new. This year, I decided to start a year long 365 photo blog which I know can become a bit cliché, but I've been fascinated by the idea for a while now. I've seen some really good ones and some bad ones done by people over the last couple of years and I'm curious to see how I'll do. For me, 2013 is going to be a year full of a lot of travelling, working, projects and adventures. I feel like this will be a helpful way for me to document and share the experience.

My goal is to provide an image a day. Each image will include a brief caption, story or explanation from the day to accompany it. That's it.

Here's to a new year and new adventures!

In our family, it's fairly customary for the new year to start with cleaning. It's a time to put away the Christmas decorations and set the atmosphere of our home for the coming year. While I was dusting, I caught a glimpse of this beauty at the back of my mom's Christmas cactus. It's gorgeous! Had to get a flashlight to illuminate it in the shadows.
